Another name for Masuria is the Land of a Thousand Lakes, with approximately 2,600 lakes in the region. This number, and above all, the interconnectedness of lakes, makes Masuria a unique destination in Europe for inland sailing.
The Great Masurian Lakes Trail is a network of interconnected lakes and canals that runs from the south of Lake Nidzkie all the way north to Węgorzewo. This trail has numerous branches. If you're visiting Masuria for the first time, it's definitely worth sailing this designated route, which includes popular destinations such as Giżycko and Mikołajki. Standard cruises last a week, but there are so many attractive places to visit that a longer cruise is also a good idea. It's worth emphasizing that the crew doesn't need any sailing experience. The yacht is steered by a qualified skipper, who is happy to share his knowledge and engage the crew in on-board activities. Typically, the crew sleeps on board, but for those seeking greater comfort, we can book accommodations on land. Below is a sample itinerary for a cruise from Ruciane-Nida to Giżycko, using the standard option, which begins and ends at the same port. There's also a "one-way" option, which allows you to end the cruise in a port other than your home port.
